MINNIE GRISDALE'S CHEMISTRY PRIZE (1892)

Prize for ‘success in chemistry’ presented to Minnie Grisdale by Head Governess, Miss Ash.
[And for those of you who are wondering — Minnie Grisdale was the aunt of James Grisdale —
organist at Headingley Methodist Church and husband of Miss Clayton.]

“The book's bound in maroon leather, embellished with gold lettering showing the title (Mrs. Hemans) & the 'logo' for Leeds Girls' Modern School. Interestingly, the book plate's entitled Leeds Mechanics Institution Literary Society Girls' School (perhaps they were using up old book labels!) The book contains the poetical works of Mrs. Hemans, published by Frederick Warne & Co., 1890. ” Christine Haiste ’54-’60 & ’61-’62
