OLD GIRLS' SECTION

1947.

As the saying goes "much water has flowed under the bridge since last we met." It is a number of years since it was possible to issue a school magazine. Many girls have left the quieter waters of school and gone out under the bridge of hope and excitement to live in the fuller world.

It is due to the untiring energy of Miss Boyd that a register has been kept of the ways which many girls have taken. Some joined H.M. Forces or took up nursing and teaching during the war. We have also in the register the record of many girls who have married and some who are bringing up future Lawnswood High Schoolites! Whatever you have chosen to do in this busy world we wish you happiness and a life of service in the best traditions of the old school.

Many of the staff known to Old Girls have moved on either to take charge of schools of their own or have retired to a well-earned rest. Our best wishes are extended to them all.

The Union Committee has arranged socials, theatre parties, garden parties, etc., during the war years and plans are being made for similar events in the future. Pay your 1/- annual subscription and join us.

During these war years a Founders' Day has been instituted. Each year in July an Old Girl is asked to speak to the school. It is a grand thing to feel that you still belong to such a school.

In closing I would say to those who have gone before—never forget the school which gave you your start in life. To those who are about to join the ranks of the "old brigade" keep in touch with the Union. To all, old and young alike—be ready for anything and everything—NUNQUAM NON PARATUS.
